Dragonfly Paddlers can help you “Get a Big Hug from Mother Nature”
Dragonfly is a new kayak and canoe rental business located right in your backyard, offering relaxing river adventures on one of Outagamie County’s best kept secrets – the Wolf River.
“We provide an opportunity to venture out and explore the quiet, pristine and flat water river,” says Larry and Tracey Berken, who own and operate Dragonfly Paddlers. “This river offer a tranquil, lazy current that allows any paddler to effortlessly meander through miles and miles of trees and wild flowers while enjoying song birds and wildlife. You can really absorb the beautiful sights and sounds of this natural wonderland from a kayak, canoe or S.U.P. Sometimes, a dragonfly will land on your vessel to hitch a ride with you!” “This paddle experience in Shiocton is spiritually addicting and so relaxing,” said one of Dragonfly Paddlers’ return customers. Take your time and seek the seclusion of nature and breathe.
The serene adventures are designed with both first-time and experienced paddlers in mind and all trips go with the current. You don’t even have to paddle! Recreational kayaks, canoes and S.U.P.s are available, as well as fishing kayaks and canoes. A sunset pontoon boat ride only with a captain is also available for those who are not as adventurous or those who would like to take a relaxing ride while getting some great nature photographs.
Our signature paddle is 2-3 hours long (5.5 miles) that ends at Dragonfly where your vehicle will be parked.
The next most popular paddle is a 6-8 hour trip (16 miles) starts at River’s Edge Campground that also ends at Dragonfly. Overnight trips are available in partnership with River’s Edge Campground in Leeman or Damn Yankees near Hortonville.
Upon arrival all paddlers will pick out their favorite kayak or canoe. We then shuttle you and your boat, paddle and life vest up the river to your drop-off point where we assist you into the water. The trip down river (with the current) back to Dragonfly will take between 2 to 3 hours.
“We suggest that you stock a small soft cooler to take with you on your day trips,” says Tracey. “Take time for a picnic or swimming when you come across a sandbar. Simply come out and Get a Big Hug from Mother Nature with help from Dragonfly Paddlers.”
Dragonfly Paddlers is open daily from May through October. Monday through Friday group rates are available for families, churches, or any organization that appreciates the God-given, sparkling gem known as the Wolf River. Trips starts at 8am ( with reservations could start earlier ) up to 3 hours prior to official sunsets.
